About Us
At Bale Up Hayfeeders, we’re dedicated to transforming livestock feeding with innovative and dependable solutions. With over 45 years of experience, we aim to boost farm efficiency through high-quality feeders designed and manufactured in Kyabram, Victoria.
Our feeders are engineered to reduce feed wastage by up to 95%, preventing spills around the edges. Unlike other feeders that rely on deflectors, our design keeps hay away from the sides and ends, ensuring optimal efficiency and minimal waste.
Built to endure the challenging weather conditions that Australian farmers face all too often, our feeders adhere to our “no bend, less waste” principle. Unlike cheaper offshore alternatives, they are robust and efficient, crafted to handle the demands of our challenging environments, which vary from state to state.
Why choose a Bale Up Hayfeeder?
Unlike round bale rings and loop-type square bale feeders, our Bale Up Hayfeeders keep hay elevated, high and dry. This design prevents cattle from picking up contaminants and microorganisms from the ground. Additionally, keeping the hay off the surface prevents it from acting as a sponge that soaks up moisture and spoils the feed.
OUR DESIGN
Our innovative cattle feeders are designed to optimise feed management and reduce waste. With a curved corrugated zincalume floor elevated about 200mm (8 inches) above ground and rising 300mm (12 inches) at the center, these feeders make it easier for cattle to access feed while minimising hay wastage and allows dropped hay to drain effectively, even if exposed to rain. The centered bale cradle ensures that the hay is kept away from the sides and the cattle are forced to keep their head inside the feeder while feeding.
After just three months of use, you'll notice that the ground around the feeders remains cleaner and less pugged, thanks to the reduction in dropped hay. This efficient system reduces feed losses to around 5% and less, ensuring better feed utilisation and a cleaner feeding area.
FEEDER CAPACITY
Our feeders are built to accommodate your needs. They are generously 3.3 meters long (approximately 11 feet) and 2.45 meters wide (8 feet) and can fit either two round bales or one square. We offer a narrower version for calves and horses at 1.8 meters wide (6 feet). This size allows you to easily fit an 8x4x4 square bale with minimal spillage.
Each feeder can feed over 50 head of cattle and can offer a lot-feed modular system with our 4m feed pad model.
DURABLE CONSTRUCTION
Our feeders are built to last, featuring a steel construction. They are made with a durable 50x50 rhs frame and accompanying 40x40 angled dividers, with a strong 75 x 50 or 100 x 50 rhs bearer under the floor. The sturdy 150x50 top rail ensures they can take everything you give them while wearing some nice 50x50x3 rhs skids.
All units are built of galvanised steel to ensure longevity and performance in Australian conditions, whether drought, flood, or anything in between.
We weren't lying when we said these things are robust; they’re so solid and sturdy that they can be tipped over for easy cleaning and are easily maneuvered with bale forks—just be sure to carry them empty for safety.
Unlike other feeders that often end up mangled or damaged, our feeders are crafted to be a valuable asset, not a consumable. Built with long-term durability in mind, they offer exceptional resilience and reliability.
